NBA 2K14 News: New Block Features Added; Recap of Steve Kerr Interview

Are you tired of playing "NBA 2K," seeing someone jump from the free throw line and watching your defender helplessly (and unrealistically) get posterized?

Or maybe you watched LeBron completed deny Tiago Splitter at the rim during the NBA Finals and wondered, “It’s a shame that never happens in 'NBA 2K.'"

Well, 2K Sports has apparently fixed that. They announced through Twitter today “a new blocking system.”

It will be interesting to see how this works. In can be guessed that like most things in the game timing will be everything. We can also expect good animation—something “NBA 2K” is usually good about— from “NBA 2K14,” meaning a blocked dunk will be smooth. Hopefully, it does not look awkward like when you crossed someone up in “NBA 2K13” and the defender awkwardly falls to the floor.

“NBA Live14” announced a similar feature last month, so this is another area in which we will be able to gage which game has the upper hand.

In other “NBA 2K14” news, Bleacher Report recently caught up with Steve Kerr to get some insight into what it’s like to be a commentator for “NBA 2K.”

“I’ve been doing this for years I think this is probably my sixth year doing voiceovers for video games,” said Kerr.

“These guys here at 2K they encourage me to say what I think. I can completely go off script if I want ,” he added. “It’s really a good formula because of having themes to talk about but plenty of freedom to stray from the script as well.”

“NBA 2K14” will be released on Oct. 1 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It will hit stores for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
