Rob Zombie doesn't hate skaters, but he doesn't want the noise of a skate park affecting his quiet time at home, according to The Hartford Courant.
The "slasher flick-making, monster- and gore-loving, hard rocking performer" and his wife's complaint about the skate park near their property in Woodbury went viral on the Internet. Rob's wife, Sheri voiced her objection the skate park at a June 19 budget meeting.
"I was wondering if we could designate some of the reserve to move the skateboard park that was put adjacent to my property which is proved to be a significant noise pollutant and has reduced the quality of life for me and my two other neighbors that it affects," Sheri said, according to meeting minutes posted on the town's website.
Since the complaint, the skate park's hours have been reduced from 8 a.m. to dusk daily, to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to the Courant. However, since the complaint went viral, news stories have focused on Zombie versus skateboarders.
Zombie and his wife were in agreement about the complaint, but he hates the attention it has raised. Zombie released the following statement on his official Facebook page:
"It seems nuts to even have to address this but I guess I will. Some really crazy articles have popped up making claims about 'hating skaters' and 'hating children.' None of this is true and it makes me sick that someone would print such lies.
There is a simple matter going on in which we are trying to find a solution that will make EVERYBODY happy. Unfortunately someone decided to turn it into a whole ugly event. What a bummer."
Woodbury First Selectman Jerry Stomski told the Courant only two people have complained about skate park, other than Zombie
"One of the things I kind of find offensive is that there's only one neighbor who's given us any kind of complaint," Stomski said. "It wasn't until last week that we received a complaint from another neighbor, and that was only after they were contacted by the neighbor who complained."
