Serena Williams faces Francesca Schiavone on Wednesday in round two of the 2013 Rogers Cup. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Tune to ESPN or watch the live stream HERE.
After her first-round bye, top-seeded Williams takes the court on Wednesday in her first match. Williams, ranked No. 1 in the World, is coming off her first Swedish Open win. Defeating Johanna Larsson in the final earned Williams her 53rd WTA title.
The title adds to an impressive season for Williams. She's 51-3 with seven WTA titles so far, including the French Open. With the exception of Wimbledon, Williams has dominated her competition all year.
Wednesday shouldn't be any different. Williams faces 57th-ranked Schiavone. The 33-year-old Italian, owner of 6 career WTA titles, has only one title this season to go along with a 19-18 record. She last played in the Southern California Open, where she made it to the round of 16 before falling in two sets to Victoria Azarenka.
Schiavone advanced to the second round by defeating Chanelle Scheepers on Tuesday in the Rogers Cup opener. Schiavone dropped the first set before coming back and winning, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The tournament also features 2013 Wimbledon winner Marion Bartoli, 2012 Rogers Cup winner Petra Kvitova, Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Kirilenko, Eugenie Bouchard, Sara Errani, Agnieszka Radwanska and Na Li.
Williams, an early favorite to win, could face Bartoli in the quarterfinals and either Radwanska or Errani in the semifinals.
Kvitova and Bouchard are slated to face each other Wednesday evening.
