Fans of AMC's "The Walking Dead" will be treated to a double dose of zombie action with this summer's debut of the companion series "Fear The Walking Dead." The new show will be based in L.A. and will begin shortly before the zombie virus tears down civilization as we know it.
Fans have been eager for any and all information about the mysterious spinoff but have only received bits and pieces so far. Now, we have a few more casting announcements with three new roles announced for the show.
Lorenzo Henrie ("Star Trek") has landed the role of Chris Manawa. The character is described as being indignant towards his father, Travis (Cliff Curtis), over his parent's divorce. Chris' mother, Liza, will be played by Elizabeth Rodriguez ("The Drop," "Grimm").
Earlier this month, Mercedes Mason ("Anger Management") was cast as a series regular. Her character has not yet received a public description.
Ruben Blades ("Safe House") will also join the cast as a series regular. His character, Daniel, is the father of Mercedes Mason's character.
Recently, showrunner Dave Erickson said that "the main narrative drive is the conflicts with this family dynamic and how those things are exacerbated by the arrival of the apocalypse." It sounds like the familial relationships between these new characters will take center stage on "Fear The Walking Dead."
