Henry Cavill Quits ‘Stratton’ Movie Over ‘Creative Differences’

Henry Cavill has exited the movie "Stratton" only five days before filming was scheduled to begin.

GFM Films cited "creative differences" as the reason for Cavill's departure from the project, which would have started shooting on June 2 in London and Rome, according to Variety. "Stratton" is based on the first in a series of novels by Duncan Falconer.

"It is with great regret that we announce that Henry Cavill has pulled out of 'Stratton' due to creative differences on the script of the movie," GFM films said in a statement. "With production due to commence next week, we wish to keep the production team together and Simon West as director so [we] are working to replace Henry. Production will be delayed whilst we do this. Further announcements will be made in due course."

The 32-year-old actor's production company, Promethean Productions, was set to produce the film alongside GFM and Amber Entertainment. West joined the project in February and lauded his lead actor.

"I have been looking for an opportunity to establish a new UK based action character for some time and 'Stratton' fits the bill perfectly... I have followed Henry's work for a while now and I cannot imagine a better actor to take on the role," "The Expendables 2" director said at the time.

The "Man of Steel" star also expressed his excitement about the project at that time as well as his director's ability to bring Falconer's story to the big screen.

"I've long wanted to tell a story about the British Special Forces, and finally the opportunity has come around," Cavill said (via Variety). "Duncan Falconer's work is fantastic, and we are incredibly fortunate to be working with him so closely. We plan to convert the books to cinema as accurately as possible while keeping them topical. Simon West is a perfect match for this movie his ability to marry storytelling and action, both of which are essential to do this project justice."

Cavill will next star in the movie "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." in August and then reprise his role as Superman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in March 2016.
