Crying Toddler Gets Singer Kicked Off Flight

Canadian singer Sarah Blackwood was kicked off her flight to Vancouver on Wednesday because of her crying 2-year-old, CTV News reports.

Blackwood, who is from the band Walk Off the Earth, was asked to leave the United Airlines flight because her son was being "fussy."

"I had to hold him," Blackwood said. "He was being very squirmy and was crying very loud."

During the first leg of the flight, her son, Giorgio, was just upset, but then during the second leg of the flight, he began to cry. Right before takeoff, a flight attendant warned Blackwood that she needed to "control" her child or else the pilot would turn the plane around.

"I looked at her and said, 'I'm doing what I can here. I'm holding him. This is what I'm supposed to do,'" Blackwood said.

The singer, who is currently seven months pregnant, was humiliated, especially when a different flight attendant came to talk to her.

"My eyes were welling up," she said. "I was so embarrassed."

She realized the plane had stopped as another flight attendant asked her and her son to leave, even though he had fallen asleep by this time.

They claimed they felt "unsafe" and believed her son was some sort of "threat."

"It felt like it was in slow motion," Blackwood explained about being escorted off the plane. "I was in tears, it was so embarrassing. It was awful."

After the incident, Blackwood posted on Twitter to tell the airline how she really felt.

"Just got kicked off a @united flight because my son was crying really loud. Stayed calm but overall #Discrimination #motherhaters @united," the first tweet read.

About an hour later, she angrily tweeted, "Apparently my little 2 yr old crying son was a big threat to @united UA6223. MY 2 YR OLD!A threat?!?! Kicked us off the plane @discrimination."

She also posted a video that shows her speaking with a United worker who was in complete shock over what had just happened, Daily Mail reported.

Other members of the flight are on her side, though. They have been emailing her offering to speak about the incident, and sharing words of support.
