A report indicating Anderson Varajao could be activated if needed in the 2015 NBA Finals hit the Internet early Friday morning, only for it to be dismissed later as inaccurate. Unfortunately for Cavaliers fans, it doesn't look like they'll see Varejao on the court again until next season.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported Friday morning, "If anything were to go bad, Anderson Varejao could be activated." Although the possibility may have excited some fans, Chris Haynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group quickly shot the report down.
"Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao will not play in the 2015 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, a team official told Northeast Ohio Media Group on Friday," Haynes wrote Friday afternoon. "Varejao is still recovering from a left Achilles tear he suffered in December. At this juncture, he hasn't even been cleared to run."
Varejao, whose injury typically takes approximately nine months to heal, told NEOMG earlier this week that he planned to be healthy in time for training camp.
Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals between Cleveland the Golden State Warriors tips off at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 4.
