FIFA President Condemns UEFA's 'Hate' Campaign In Swiss TV Interview

FIFA president Joseph Blatter expressed his shock at U.S. prosecutors' comments following the arrest of FIFA officials under a US anti-corruption warrant on Wednesday.

And now, he has condemned what he describes as a hate campaign created by European footballing nations against the long-standing organization, according to BBC News.

The 79-year-old Swiss was recently re-elected for the position during a FIFA congress held in Zurich last Friday.

Blatter admitted in an interview on Swiss TV that he suspected that the recent arrest of seven officials was an "attempt to interfere with the congress" wherein he was re-elected, according to Al Jazeera.

The president then slammed UEFA head Michel Platini for calling him out to resign over the recent corruption scandals that have plagued the FIFA organization.

"It is a hate that comes not just from a person at UEFA, it comes from the UEFA organisation that cannot understand that in 1998 I became president," he said in the interview. He also said that he is willing to forgive Platini, but then adds "I don't forget."
