"The Late Late Show" host James Corden and actress Allison Janney seem to really like each other. The comedian received a pleasant surprise when he announced Janney as the winner in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy category at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday.
"The award goes to, I think, one of the best actresses I've ever met," Corden said when he introduced Janney, who won for her role in "Mom" and gained fame through roles in "The West Wing," "10 Things I Hate You," "American Beauty," "Nurse Betty" and "First Do No Harm," among others.
The actress claims she had no intentions for love when she laid her lips on Corden, but that she is just a big fan of the entertainer.
"I didn't mean nothing by that," Janney said following the smooch, according to The New York Daily News.
The Critics' Choice Awards were held in Beverly Hills, Calif. and were hosted by Cat Deeley. She said the show of affection between Janney and Corden "set the tone" of the fifth annual event, People.com reported.
