Chicago Bulls RUMORS: Fred Hoiberg Deal Expected To Be Finalized Soon, Announcement Of New Head Coach Could Happen Monday Night

The Chicago Bulls are expected to finalize a deal soon with Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg. The announcement of Hoiberg replacing Tom Thibodeau could come as early as Monday night, according to Gary Parrish CBS Sports.

Hoiberg has been linked to Chicago since last year, and the Bulls are now expected to officially hire him soon.

"Fred Hoiberg is expected to travel to Chicago later Monday and finalize a deal to become the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls, a source has told CBSSports.com," Parrish wrote Monday. "A formal announcement could come as early as Monday night. An NBA source said the Bulls would like to hold a press conference Tuesday."

Both CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports reported last week Hoiberg, who played for Chicago from 1999 to 2003, and the Bulls had reached an unofficial agreement prior to the team firing Thibodeau on Thursday.

"CBSSports.com reported last Friday, a day after Chicago fired Tom Thibodeau, that Hoiberg and the Bulls already had what amounted to a 'gentleman's agreement' in place," Parrish wrote.

Hoiberg took over the Cyclones in 2010 and has since compiled a 115-56 record. Yahoo Sports' from last week indicated Chicago's management had long preferred Hoiberg over Thibodeau, whom management reportedly had been purposefully undermining for some time in order to pave the way for the Iowa State coach.
