Bob Schieffer left the anchor desk of CBS' "Face The Nation" on Sunday after 25 years but is already making headlines again thanks to choice words he had for the media's coverage of President Barack Obama.
A veteran journalist, Schieffer has recently appeared on multiple networks to talk about his experiences from one of Sunday's top political talk shows. In one such interview with Fox News' Howard Kurtz, Schieffer said that reporters and the media could have potentially questioned President Barack Obama more during his initial 2008 presidential campaign.
"I don't know. Maybe we were not skeptical enough. It was a campaign," Schieffer said in the interview when asked if Obama had an "incredibly easy ride" because of the media. "I think, as journalists, basically what we do is watch the campaign and report what the two sides are doing."
He added that Obama's rise to stardom in 2008 shocked the political world, according to Politico. Schieffer ultimately beleives that it is the job of opponents to make campaigns though, not journalists.
