One goal of the Starship Enterprise was "to seek out new life and new civilizations." Later this month, William Shatner, who played the Enterprise's fabled Captain Kirk on "Star Trek," will undertake a mission that's a bit less grandiose, but nonetheless daunting: the 84-year-old actor will ride across the country to showcase a new 3-wheeled motorcycle he designed while helping raise awareness for the work done by The American Legion.
The new bike - the Rivet - comes "straight from the creative brain of Shatner" along with American Wrench owner/designer Kevin Sirotek, according to a press release.
Dubbed "The Ride," Shatner's 8-day journey will kick off June 23 from the American Wrench shop outside of Chicago, following Route 66 through most of the itinerary, and make stops in St. Louis; Kansas City; Oklahoma City; Amarillo, Texas; Albuquerque, N.M., Flagstaff, Ariz.; and Las Vegas before ending in Los Angeles on June 30.
