Former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell is under fire after he declared on Twitter on Monday that he will still refer to Caitlyn Jenner as Bruce.
Bell received enormous backlash for the tweet that said "Sorry... still calling you Bruce," which infuriated many Twitter users and he has since deleted, according to Page Six.
Bell—who starred as one of the title characters on the hit Nickelodeon TV show "Drake and Josh" from 2004 to 2007—tried to explain himself by tweeting: "I'm not dissing him! I just don't want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time! Chill out!"
Despite Bell's attempts, the damage had already been done. Social media users expressed their disappointment towards the actor and attacked him with numerous insults, some of them even going as far as mocking him on his bankruptcy, according to the Daily Mail.
Caitlyn Jenner made her official debut on Monday when Vanity Fair unveiled the cover for its latest issue, which features the newly transitioned star and the caption "Call Me Caitlyn."
Jenner has gained overwhelmingly positive responses from people, and her new Twitter account has already gained over a million followers, according to CNN.
