Season five of "Homeland" is picking up two years after Carrie Mathison's (Claire Danes) failed tenure as station chief at Islamabad. The series will now tackle her self-imposed exile in Berlin and her new work at a private security firm.
To support Carrie Mathison in the new season are totally new characters led by Sebastian Koch, who is known for his project "The Lives of Others," as the German philanthropist, who is also her boss, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Carrie's new love interest would be played by Alexander Fehling, whose character would be the Düring Foundation's legal counsel.
Miranda Otto, best known for her performance as Eowyn in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, is also a new character portraying the current station chief in Berlin, and who is working directly with Mandy Patinkin's character, Saul Berenson, the publication added. Rupert Friend and F. Murray Abraham are also back on the series.
There would also be the new character of an American journalist in Berlin who works for the Düring Foundation to be portrayed by Sarah Sokolovic (best known for her performance in "Cold Comes the Night").
The production of the new season will be shot entirely in Berlin, Germany. Filming began on Tuesday this week, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
