Since making her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine, Caitlyn Jenner has been surrounded with a boatload of love and support for being courageous. Next month, the 65-year-old former Olympian will be honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs, which is presented annually to individuals whose contributions transcend sports.
"What the hell am I going to wear?" Jenner tweeted along with a link to the news.
"In the past few months, the overwhelming outpouring of support from all over the world for my journey has been incredible," she said in a statement about receiving the honor. "However, being honored with this award, which is named after one of my heroes, is truly special. For the first time, this July, I will be able to stand as my true self in front of my peers."
While Hollywood continues to buzz about Jenner's transformation, others aren't quite as impressed.
The son of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, Connor Cruise, went on a Twitter rant Wednesday against whether Jenner is worthy of being awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
"Really?? Winning the AA award for courage?? Ashton is gonna come out and yell PUNK'D," the 20-year-old tweeted, according to E! News. "Don't get me wrong. Do what you feel like doing and don't let anyone stop you. But everyone is taking this way too seriously...There are so many more important things that should be talked about... And SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT PEOPLE that actually deserve an award."
The aspiring DJ is not against Jenner's transformation, but feels like there are other things that deserve more recognition and attention. "I'm totally supportive of people staying true to themselves and finding true happiness in whatever way they can," Cruise said. "There are just way more things that we as a nation and as a planet should be talking about and working on."
"Like the fact that we are overfishing and in 30 years there will be no more fish. Seems dumb but 85 percent of the worlds protein is fish," he continued to tweet. "Or what about the fact that our planet is becoming less habitable on a daily basis. Yet the population is increasing at an alarming rate."
Cruise ended his rant by asking his followers to help bring peace. "The fact that we all can't even get a long on earth lol. We fight and kill each other. We have war and poverty. This needs to change," he said in conclusion.
On Wednesday, E! announced that Jenner's eight-part docuseries, which will give fans a closer look into her transition, will be titled "I Am Cait."
