Jimmy Fallon and wife Nancy Juvonen Fallon revealed they used a surrogate to have their daughter Winnie Rose, USA Today reports.
The couple welcomed their baby girl on July 23. Everyone was shocked by the announcement because no one knew Fallon and his wife were expecting a child. Winnie Rose was born the same week Kate Middleton gave birth to the royal baby (and actress Penelope Cruz welcomed her second child) but the "Late Night" funny-man never said a word.
He did make jokes about all the royal baby mania on his show "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
"That's right, Kate Middleton went into labor this morning in London. When the rest of the royal family heard, they were like 'Oh my God - what's labor?'" he joked.
He told Savannah Guthrie during an interview for the "Today Show" that using a surrogate wasn't really a secret.
"My wife and I had been trying for a while to have a baby. So we tried a bunch of things and so we had a surrogate," Fallon said. "This time we said we're not telling anybody. It would be just more fun, just private between me and my wife and then get to introduce her to everybody. When it happened we were shocked... Who do we tell? Who is going to be mad at us? We had to call everybody. It's so emotional."
The revelation was only one part of the full interview that will air next week. At the time of the birth, a rep for Fallon told People magazine that the couple was "overjoyed about the arrival of their beautiful daughter."
Fallon married Juvonen in December 2007 after being introduced by pal Drew Barrymore on the set of "Fever Pitch."
