A young boy suffered two shark bites while wading and playing in waist-deep water at Lori Wilson Park in Florida's Cocoa Beach on Sunday.
Thankfully, he is expected to survive and make a full recovery.
The unidentified 11-year-old suffered a severe bite on his calf and was flown to a trauma hospital in Orlando due to the severity of the injury, Ocean Rescue Assistant Chief Eisen Witcher told CNN.
He was playing in the water when the shark clamped down on his leg.
"There was blood in the water," Witcher said. "It's severe. We wrapped it up as fast as we could."
The shark that bit the boy was suspected to be a bull shark, one of the most dangerous and aggressive sea-dwellers, even more so than great whites, as they are known to attack swimmers frequently.
The beach was closed for about an hour, Brevard County spokesman Don Walker told CNN.
Brevard officials have responded to about 10 shark bites this year, Witcher said.
