NFL receiver Randy Moss appears finished with football. The free agent tweeted on Friday he will be an analyst for Fox Sports 1's new program, "Fox Football Daily."
Moss joins Brian Urlacher, Ronde Barber and Scott Fujita as analysts for Fox's new daily NFL show, which premieres Aug. 19, according to Fox Sports. The seven-time Pro Bowler referenced the network on Friday in a tweet.
The 36-year-old could announce his retirement as early as this week, according to a USA Today Sports source. Fox Sports declined to comment on Moss' employment over the weekend, but released on Monday a promotional video featuring the receiver.
Rumors circulated this offseason that Moss wasn't done with football. The Achilles injury to San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree created the possibility of Moss re-signing with the 49ers, where he played for one season before being released in March. When tight end Vernon Davis began lining up as a receiver during training camp, it appeared more likely coach Jim Harbaugh would consider bringing in outside help to his relatively inexperienced receiving corps.
Reuniting with the New England Patriots also appeared to be a possibility. Moss, who played some of his best football in Foxborough, became a more attractive option when the team lost Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and Brandon Lloyd this offseason.
Specifics on Moss' contract, such as its duration, aren't yet available. The show premieres Monday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. on the new Fox Sports 1 network.
