It finally happened in Season 3—Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) are a couple. We’ve been waiting for a while and it finally happened. Of course, as in any show, when two people get finally get together the next logical question is, “Alright, so when and why are they going to break up.”
The good news for Mike/Rachel fans, according to “Entertainment Weekly,” is they will be a couple for the rest of the summer.
However, if things hadn’t changed, the love fest would have ended a few episodes from now.
“They were planning on breaking us up at episode 10,” admitted Marklel. “I know that it has now been completely restructured and re-conceived because they are enjoying Mike and Rachel as a couple too much. They don’t want to do it.”
“Because the show is doing so well, and we’re so lucky — you can see that we probably have a few more seasons in us — the idea of ‘will-they-won’t-they, will-they-won’t-they, okay, they will, but only for 10 episodes and then it’s going to go away’ felt like then where do you go from that?” she continued.
Markle is hoping Rachel and Mike are in it for the long haul.
“If it took us two seasons to try to figure out if we could make it work, then maybe they take that time and really give us an opportunity to have something,” she said.
The fact the “Suits” team was planning to end the relationship is understandable. In last Tuesday’s episode Rachel and Mike finally confessed their love for each other. So outside of an engagement and marriage, it seems there relationship has reached an on-screen climax.
Mike and Katrina (Amanda Schull) seemed to bond a bit in Episode 4—maybe there’s something there?
Nevertheless, it would be good if Mike and Rachel stay together. The show teased us long enough.
“Suits” airs on USA, Tuesdays 10/9c.
