Unsurprisingly, Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will feature Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) going toe-to-toe in the aftermath of Superman's destructive Battle of Metropolis in "Man of Steel." Beyond that, however, specific plot details have been scarce, with eager fans speculating on unconfirmed rumors.
Now, we have a bit more information about the upcoming comic book adaptation. An official plot synopsis has finally been released and even though it may be lacking in concrete details it does provide a slightly clearer picture of the film.
"Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis' most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before."
Based on this plot summary, it appears that Batman will be the instigator in the conflict between him and Superman. But what most stands out is the "new threat" that will likely force the two heroes to join up for the common good. Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) will play a role in this film and it's even possible that he could be the main villain thanks to his iconic war suit from the comics. But it makes more sense if he is working with someone else, perhaps even Doomsday who would pose a significant physical threat.
It's also interesting to note that Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) are not mentioned in the synopsis. Many fans have been wondering how the two future members of the Justice League will fit into this action packed story.
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
