Matt Murdock will have some vigilante competition next season on "Daredevil."
The Netflix series cast Jon Bernthal to play Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher in the upcoming season two, according to Marvel.com.
The popular Marvel character is a vigilante, who aims to clean up the streets of Hell's Kitchen in New York City by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.
"Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television. "Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same."
In the Marvel comics, the antihero Frank Castle is a war veteran of the U.S. military and driven by the death of his wife and two children during a mob shootout in the middle of Central Park.
"The Walking Dead" alum will join stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Vincent D'Onofrio. Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez will replace Steven DeKnight as showrunners.
In its first season, the Marvel show became the most popular Netflix original series.
