Amazon Offers $50 Student Discount On Kindle Fire Device For January

Amazon announced a $50 discount on its 8.9 Kindle Fire HD for all students through the month of January.

Money saved is money earned, and who better than a student to understand the value of every dollar. Playing on that sentiment, Amazon has now made its 8.9 Kindle Fire HD cheaper for students to purchase. Through the month of January, students can by the device for $50 off the original price.

The discount comes at a very appropriate time as students return to colleges and schools after their winter break. The budget-friendly discount makes it easier to purchase the most popular device of the holiday season.

But there are two conditions students must meet in order to get the discount. First, the student needs to register with an ".edu" email address and secondly, the student needs to have a Amazon Student Prime Membership which comes at $49 a year. However, luckily for students, there's a way around the second condition. Amazon offers a 6-month free trail of membership for all students. Hence, a student can subscribe for the membership without having to immediately pay $49 for the subscription.

The discount makes the 16 GB Wi-Fi only version of the 8.9 Kindle Fire HD as cheap as the 7-inch 32GB model Kindle Fire HD.

The discount can be available on all four versions of the 8.9 Kindle Fire HD. After applying the $50 student discount the price of the 16 GB Wi-Fi only version and the 32 GB Wi-Fi only version comes down to $249 and $319, respectively.

The 32 GB 4G LTE version and 64 GB 4G LTE versions will be priced at $449 and $549 respectively after the discount is applied.
