Famke Janssen, star of the "X-Men" movies, filed a police report on Saturday after she claimed someone broke into her New York City apartment and placed a children's book in her bedroom, Fox News reported.
Janssen told police that after arriving home around 8 p.m., she found the book "The Lonely Doll" placed on a nightstand next to her bed -- a book she didn't own.
The actress, model, and writer had been out of her apartment since 7:30 a.m. running errands and became worried that someone had broke in. However, once law enforcement arrived, they found no indication of forced entry and nothing appeared to be damaged or stolen.
Janssen said she is the only person with access to her apartment. Officials said they would continue to investigate by reviewing video surveillance footage from the apartment's lobby.
"The Lonely Doll" is a children's story that was published in 1957 by Dare Wright. It tells the story of Edith, a doll, who needed a friend. It's the first book in a series of 10 stories that tell the tales of Edith and her different friends.
Janssen does not have any children and has been divorced from her ex-husband, Kip Williams, since 2000.
The actress is currently working on two films -- "The Being Experience" and "A Fighting Man." She also spends her time working with charity. In 2007, she starred in a PETA campaign with her dog, Licorice. In 2008, she was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for Integrity for the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime at a conference held in Nusa Dua, Bali that focused on anti-corruption.
