The Game Turns Himself In to Police After Allegedly Punching Off-Duty Police Officer (VIDEO)

Rapper The Game found himself behind bars on Monday.

The 35-year-old hip-hop artist turned himself into the Los Angeles police department's Hollywood Division on Monday afternoon after an arrest warrant was issued for him last week.

The Game, a.k.a. Jayceon Terrell Taylor, was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats but was released an hour later at 1:06 p.m. after posting $50,000 bail, according to Reuters.

The warrant for his arrest stems from an incident that took place on March 29 involving The Game and off-duty police officer Onyebuchi Awaji. The two men got into an altercation during a pick-up basketball game at the Hollywood High School gym, and The Game was seen striking the officer in his face.

The incident was caught on video and posted online by TMZ.

Sources claim that the "Black on Black" rapper acted out of defense after Awaji threatened to use his gun on him. Awaji filed a lawsuit against The Game after the incident, claiming that the punch caused a serious brain injury. The lawsuit claimed that Awaji did not prompt the fight with The Game and said that after punching him, the rapper ran away from the venue as soon as he knew police were called.

No statements have been released on why there was a months-long lag between the incident and the arrest.

After being released from jail, it didn't take long for The Game to share with his fans what happened on Instagram. He shared a photo of himself posted in front of the LAPD Hollywood station with the caption, "Waiting on my uber lol #WinnersCircle."

He also made himself his #ManCrushMonday, posting a snapshot of him in his tight, blue boxer briefs, with the caption "#ManCrushMonday Fresh out, couldn't wait to get home shower & get back in my gym. #WinnersCircle."
