NBA RUMORS: Sacramento Kings GM Pete D’Alessandro Leaving For Denver Nuggets' Front Office

Sacramento Kings general manager Pete D'Alessandro reportedly has accepted a "high-ranking" front office job with the Denver Nuggets. D'Alessandro will leave Sacramento to work alongside Nuggets president Josh Kroenke and general manager Tim Connelly, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

With his role in Sacramento seemingly diminished by Kings vice president Vlade Divac, D'Alessandro reportedly has decided to return to the Nuggets' front office.

"(D'Alessandro) has accepted a high-ranking front office job with Josh Kroenke in Denver, league sources tell Yahoo," Wojnarowski wrote in a series of tweets Wednesday. "... In role, D'Alessandro will work to support Kroenke across the Nuggets and Avalanche franchises, sources said. ... For Nuggets GM Tim Connelly, a huge proponent of addition, D'Alessandro will be another experienced pro to help on building of team."

D'Alessandro turned down reuniting with St. John's coach Chris Mullin as the school's athletic director in favor of Denver, according to Wojnarowski. D'Alessandro was the Nuggets' previous vice president of basketball operations under Masai Ujiri until 2013, when he took over general-manager duties in Sacramento.

Denver, meanwhile, is still searching for its next head coach. Interim coach Melvin Hunt, ex-Kings coach Mike Malone and ex-Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni reportedly are the three strongest contenders for the job.

Earlier this week, the Nuggets reportedly interviewed Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool.
