Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation believe that they can link 11 slayings to an admitted Alaska serial killer that committed suicide while awaiting trial for murdering a barista last year. Agents are currently looking into possible links to murders in other countries as well, according to CNN.
Israel Keyes was arrested in early 2012 for murdering a barista in Anchorage, Alaska. While in custody Keyes admitted to committing seven other murders in between the years of 2001 and 2012. Keyes can be connected to murders all over the country ranging from Vermont to Washington, according to Reuters.
The FBI has released a timeline of where Keyes committed his crimes to the public in an attempt to learn more information about the killings and if he had a role in any as of yet unknown crimes.
"Right now, the best hope for solving these cases is going to come from information from the public," Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Feldis told Reuters.
In addition to the murders Keyes admitted to burning down a house and robbing a bank while in Texas. While Keyes confessed to killing somewhere around 11 people to investigators he didn't reveal the names of any of the victims, according to Fox News.
Many of the details that Keyes gave were cryptic; he said that he killed both males and females, that some were young and others elderly and that the murders took place in fewer than ten states. Keyes also said that one of his victims' bodies was recovered by authorities but the death was ruled accidental, according to Fox News.
Keyes was known to frequent prostitutes, especially while travelling abroad to Canada. Feldis believes that it is possible Keyes may have killed people outside of the United States, according to Reuters.
"Was he referring only to the United States? Could there be victims outside the country? I think there could be, but we don't know," Feldis said.
