This baby hippopotamus is having so much fun swimming with his mom at San Diego Zoo!
The tiny hippo was born in early March at the zoo to Funani, who also mothered 10 other calves since 1989. The hippo at San Diego Zoo is the fifth Funani mothered at this facility.
The father of the calf is named Otis, but he is not in the video because mother hippos separate themselves from the father when they are anticipating birth.
In this adorable video the baby hippo, who has yet to be named, swims close to Funani since it is still nursing. The hippo will continue to nurse for the next several months, which means visitors at the San Diego Zoo will have an abundance of cute for a while in the hippo exhibit!
