The Dallas Cowboys have announced that quarterback Kellen Moore will make his first start of his NFL career against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, according to the Cowboys' team website.

Moore replaced quarterback Matt Cassel in the second quarter in a loss to the New York Jets and struggled. He threw for 158 yards and a touchdown, but was interceptioned three times. With quarterback Tony Romo ruled out for the season with a hairline fracture in his collarbone, the Cowboys are likely looking to their future and seeing if Moore could become a viable backup in 2016.

Dallas has officially been eliminated from the playoffs, but still has two games remaining on their schedule. The best the Cowboys can do this season is become spoilers for the Washington Redskins, as they face them in the last week of the regular season.

Moore is in his fourth year in the league, and was an extremely talented quarterback on the college level, throwing 142 touchdowns and only 28 interceptions in four years at Boise State. Moore had taken some first team reps prior to their loss to the New York Jets, and with a full week taking first team reps in practice many wonder if Moore's production will improve on the field.

At 4-10 the Cowboys are in line to get a high draft pick in 2016, and given the frequent injuries suffered by Romo over the course of his career it's not impossible to think they will address the quarterback issue in the draft. For now the Cowboys will go with Moore, and in reality, it truly can't get any worse for Dallas because losing will only move them up on draft boards in April.
