After six successful seasons of "Downton Abbey" you'd think the stars of the show would be sad to say goodbye, but not Maggie Smith. Turns out, she's never even seen an episode.

Way before it had been announced that season six would be its last, Smith, who plays Violet, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, had plans to leave if the show returned for a seventh season, as HNGN previously reported. "They say this is the last one, and I can't see how it could go on," the 80-year-old actress told The Sunday Times at the time. "I mean, I certainly can't keep going...To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We're into the late 1920s."

As sad as it would have been to see her go, fans are even more devastated to have to say bye to the entire cast, but Smith is right. The show may be fiction, but her age is just not believable anymore. "I'm glad it's over, I really am," she said on "The Graham Norton Show" last week when asked how she felt about it coming to an end. "By the time we finished she [Violet] must have been about 100. It couldn't go on and on, it just didn't make sense."

Season six will premiere on PBS on Jan. 3, 2016, and before we know it, it will be over for good. With millions of viewers in the U.K. and U.S. each season, it's hard to believe there are still people who haven't seen at least one episode - but Smith has shockingly revealed she's one of those people.

When asked by Norton is she's watched the series, she paused and shook her head "no." "I've got the box set," she said as the crowd laughed and applauded her for her honesty. "So I should watch that."
