Apple Store: Samurai Sword Swung Around By Man At Flagship Shop At Fifth Avenue (VIDEO)

A man started swinging a real samurai sword inside the busy Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City Friday, which scared other customers and employees.

A video of the man shows him swinging his sword, as if fighting an imaginary battle atop the glass staircase of the Manhattan flagship store.

Authorities identified the suspect as Hsu Chien, 30, and witnesses said that Chien threatened employees for an iPhone and counted out loud as if he had a bomb, according to The Huffington Post.

Apple security was able to detain him, and no one was harmed. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a psychiatric exam, and police have reported that the man appears to be emotionally disturbed.

"Usually the staircase is mobbed with people, but this time it wasn’t. There was a guy in the mid part of the staircase kneeling. His face looked a little contorted and twisted. I thought he was doing some sort of performance art, but then he pulls out this sword with a huge 2-foot-long blade, and it was dead obvious that it was a real sword. I've never been so terrified in my entire life," said Nancy Birnbaum, a customer present inside the store when the incident happened, according to ABC News.

Chien faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon, according to police, the New York Post reported.
