Every day, Prince Andrew meets with The Queen in an attempt to repair his reputation with the public and his mother ahead of her Platinum Jubilee festivities.
The Duke of York, who agreed earlier this year to pay a large fee to settle the sex abuse scandal case before it went to a jury, pays the queen frequent visits to Windsor Castle.
Prince Andrew Drives 5 Miles To Visit Queen Elizabeth II
According to a royal source, Prince Andrew is driving the five miles from Royal Lodge to ensure the Queen is comfortable and well-cared for. In the aftermath of the civil sex assault lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre, Prince Andrew was deprived of all honorary military titles and the appellation HRH in January.
Giuffre alleges Epstein compelled her to have sex with the Duke three times when she was 17 years old. The accusation has been refuted several times by Prince Andrew. The Duke of York will take part in the event at Windsor Castle on June 13 among other senior royals in what is one of the most significant occasions in the Royal calendar.
His name will also appear in the Court Circular the following day, and he will attend Garter Day events as a Royal Knight. The Order is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, dating back over 700 years. The Knights, who are now both male and female, were once restricted to aristocrats, but they are now chosen from a range of backgrounds in acknowledgment of their public service.
The yearly iconic Garter Day procession, in which The Queen and the Knights process in sumptuous velvet robes, gleaming insignia, and plumed caps, is one of the Queen's most traditional rituals.
The Queen is the Order's sovereign and chooses Knights of the Garter without consulting ministers, hence Prince Andrew's appointment was deemed private. There are no worries that Andrew's appearance in Garter Day festivities may overshadow the occasion, especially since he is claimed to have decided to walk aside from public life when the lawsuit is resolved, according to Daily Mail.
Duke of York Won't Appear in Platinum Jubilee
After the Palace stated that only active royals will attend one of the Jubilee weekend's most notable engagements, Prince Andrew will most likely be excluded from high-profile celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The Trooping the Colour procession will take place on June 2 to commemorate the Queen's official birthday. However, Prince Andrew, who has pulled away from the royal limelight in the aftermath of the sex abuse claims, will not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the rest of the Royal Family.
Only members of the Royal Family who are now executing formal public activities, according to a Palace statement, will take their place on the balcony. As reported by royal insider, while he has been stung by being overlooked for the Jubilee celebrations, he has been unusually cheery of late and looks entirely bent on being on hand for his parents while demonstrating to the family that he is still of some service, as per Express.
Meanwhile, the queen has been making unexpected visits to commemorate the 70th year of the reign, known as the Platinum Jubilee. She is due to meet the people on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Trooping the Colour Parade on June 2. The palace announced that only working senior members will appear on the balcony, excluding Andrew and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Prince Andrew has mainly remained out of the spotlight after resigning in late 2019 following a catastrophic interview about his links to late American businessman and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew is still the heir apparent to the throne. He presently ranks ninth, after the two children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Prince Andrew, on the other hand, is not permitted to use the title His Royal Highness in any capacity, Fox News reported.
