As per Inside EVs, Unplugged Performance, an aftermarket firm, used the Tesla Model Y to revolutionize the law enforcement landscape.

The Model Y, already acclaimed for its eco-friendly attributes and impressive performance, is set to become the latest weapon in the hands of the police force. The Unplugged Performance transformation aims to provide law enforcement agencies with a fleet of state-of-the-art police cruisers that are not only powerful but also environmentally conscious.

Unplugged Performance Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ben Schaffer points out that "the most, capable, safest, most comfortable environment for an officer to spend the bulk of their day is inside a properly equipped Tesla police car."

duPont Registry reports that Unplugged Performance's data shows that traditional police cars gulp about 1,633 fuel annually. Meanwhile, the Model Y setup only relies on electricity despite the modifications.

Unplugged Performance's expert team has taken their signature design prowess to new heights, giving the Tesla Model Y a sleek and authoritative makeover.

To make it a total law-enforcement ride, it sports rugged grill guards, push bards, and a running board. It also has sirens, air horns, and custom lighting solutions. Meanwhile, the armoring packages go as high as the NIJ III+ rating. These enhancements ensure that the police version of the Model Y boasts an imposing presence on the roads.

Underneath the visually striking exterior lies the heart of a beast. The Unplugged Performance Model Y police car will feature several upgrades over the standard Model Y. It comes with plenty of interior upgrades, such as molded seats and prisoner cells and partitions. Not to mention it aptly features firearm and equipment racks, GPS, and K9 containment and safety, among other inside accessories.

According to Gizmo China's report, the Tesla-based police EV setup starts at $91,990. The base vehicle costs roughly $50,000, while the UPfit modifications sport a $41,500 price tag. On the other hand, the Ford Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid is about $7,000 more expensive.

Unplugged Performance Tesla Model Y Police EV is initially rolling out to the South Pasadena Police Department. The local law enforcement plans to ditch its fuel-powered fleet in favor of all-electric rides.
