Ron Burgundy is joining the ranks of great fictional characters who have written very real autobiographies. The star of the upcoming sequel to the 2004 comedy has inked a deal with Crown Archetype to publish the story of his life, written by none other than the faux newsman himself.
The book will be titled "LET ME OFF AT THE TOP!: My Classy Life and Other Musings." The book is supposed to drop on November 19, just enough time for fans to read it cover to cover before buying a ticket to the sequel, which is due out December 20.
There is currently no word if Will Ferrell, the actor behind the Burgundy mask, will be the one putting pen to paper to write the iconic character's life story or if a fellow writer will be the person to bring the character's timeline to readers.
Interestingly enough, Yahoo Movie Talk points out that this is not the first time Ferrell's work has crossed from the silver screen to the blank page. The actor starred in the 2006 dramatic comedy "Stranger Than Fiction" where he played a man who realizes his life is being written as a novel in real time by the mysterious disembodied voice of the author. Since then he's taken to sticking strictly with film roles. However, it's always been clear that there is more to Ron Burgundy than can be contained in one or even two movies. The autobiography will help the writers really explore who this bizarre man is as they chronicle his birth, childhood and rise to fame as San Diego's number one news anchor.
Burgundy joins the ranks of other characters turned autobiographers alongside Stuart Smalley's "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough and Doggone It, People Like Me!," "Travels with Pee-Wee" by Pee-Wee Herman and Roger Sterling of Mad Men's "Sterling's Gold."
