When injuries and New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle go head-to-head, injuries usually lose. Despite the fact Rolle sprained his ankle Monday, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said he’s considering brining Rolle back as soon as next week, according to ESPNNewYork.com.
Wednesday, Rolle got rid of his walking boot.
"Boots are for the wimps, man. I'm not a wimp," he said. "Nah, I mean, just taking it as it goes. The first day obviously was the worst. I have been grinding until about 3 in the morning since it's happened, just trying to get better."
Rolle’s recent injuries include a damaged knee and a torn rotator cuff. Although he has been injured more than once in his career, he’s sat out a grand total of one game in the past seven years.
So when asked if he would be ready in time for Week 1 he said, “That's not even a question.
"That's my goal. I don't know what everybody else's expectations are, but if I can play, I am going to go. It doesn't matter if it is this week, it doesn't matter if it is next week, it doesn't matter if it is Week 1. I am never the kind of guy that is going to milk an injury. If I can go, I am going to go."
After the injury occurred Monday, Rolle said the pain was severe.
"Right now, it feels a million times better than it did initially," the 30-year old safety said. "Just a lot of praying and hard work at night. I am just happy that I am as far along as I am right now."
Rolle recorded 96 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 2012.
