A Louisiana man was left aggravated by a local Wal-Mart store after it rejected his request to prepare a cake featuring an image of the Confederate flag, but gladly baked him a cake bearing the ISIS flag, according to ABC News.
Chuck Netzhammer said he asked for a cake with an image of the Confederate flag and the words, "Heritage Not Hate," on Thursday at the retailer's store in Slidell, La., but the bakery refused to make the cake. Testing Walmart's limits, Netzhammer ordered the image of the ISIS flag and was shocked to find out that his request was gladly accepted.
"I went back yesterday and managed to get an ISIS battle flag printed. ISIS happens to be somebody who we're fighting against right now, who are killing our men and boys overseas and are beheading Christians," Netzhammer said, according to The Washington Times.
Walmart issued an apology after Netzhammer took to social media to tell his story by posting a YouTube video about the incident on Friday. The retail giant released a statement saying, "An associate in a local store did not know what the design meant and made a mistake. The cake should not have been made and we apologize."
Wal-Mart has joined the likes of Sears, Amazon and Apple in banning the sale of the Confederate battle flag and merchandise that features it in response to the deadly shooting of nine people at an African-American church in Charleston, S.C.
