Last week’s episode of “The Newsroom” made us all wish Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) had never left to cover the Romney campaign. That way Jerry (Hamish Linklater) would have never transferred from DC. If Jerry doesn’t transfer from D.C. then he never cuts the interview and if he never cuts the interview then the News Night crew isn’t fighting for its television life. (Phew.)
We can probably guess that in the future portions of the episodes (i.e. when the News Night team is being interviewed) that the whole team is aware of what Jerry did.
However, according to TVGuide.com, this Sunday’s episode, “Red Team III,” is when everyone begins to figure out something isn’t quite right with the Genoa story.
“MacKenzie will learn of Jerry's duplicity sooner rather than later, but that doesn't mean it will help ACN at all in the ongoing wrongful-termination lawsuit,” reports TVGuide.com’s Adam Bryant. “In fact, evidence piles up so quickly against the News Night team that Sunday's episode features not one, but several resignations.”
In the HBO Sneak Peak of “Red Team III” we see that everything is going down the drain. The video begins with Will (Jeff Daniels) announcing the Genoa story on “ACN Reports” and, after the report is finished, Charlie (Sam Waterston) is telling him the segment got over five million viewers. However, shortly into the 30-second sneak peak we see a bunch of screaming, MacKenzie calling for the stories retraction and Will uttering the words, “Me and Charlie have to go.”
Go where? We can assume their not leaving the show but could they be a part of the team members who resign?
“The Newsroom” airs Sunday at 10/9c on HBO.
