Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed that unlike many female celebrities, she's actually not a feminist, and she has a very logical reason why.
Parker graces the cover of Cosmopolitan's August issue in a cleavage-baring pink dress. During the interview, she explained that the world's problems are happening with everyone, not just women, so she considers herself a "humanist."
"As Wendy Wasserstein would say, I'm a humanist, I'm enormously appreciative of the work that my mother's generation did," she explains. "We are beneficiaries of a lot of disappointment, heartache, discouragement, and misunderstanding. But I see a lot of people trying to sort out their roles. People of color, gays, lesbians and transgenders who are carving out this space. I'm not spitting in the face or being lazy about what still needs to be done, but I don't think it's just women anymore. We would be so enormously powerful if it were a humanist movement."
She then went on to discuss some of the political issues she does have when it comes to women, though, including equal pay, paid sick leaves and child care.
"If I could guarantee every mother who is working two, three jobs that she had good child care that didn't make her anxious all day-people would probably work in more efficient ways," she went on to say. "How many times do you hear a wealthy person get asked, 'How do you do it all?' If I'm asked that question one more time...I'm like, 'Are you kidding me? Ask someone who looks like she's about to drop, How are you doing? How are you managing?'"
The "Sex and The City" star spoke about the Instagram photo she posted a few months ago that led many people to think a third "Sex and the City" movie.
In the photo, she was seen leaving Bloomingdale's in New York and the caption read, "Well. I guess the cat's out of the (little brown) bag. As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I'm under strict gag order until then."
When Parker got word of the "SATC 3" rumors, she couldn't believe how angry she'd made some fans.
"Oh my god," told Cosmo. "When I posted that picture and people were in a rage at me, I was shocked. They were convinced I had been taunting them. I'm not that clever! And to what end would I relish dangling this idea and then saying there's no movie? I'm still finding people and being like, 'No @BoobityBopBeep! Why would I hurt you?' I've never been a mean girl."
Warner Bros told E! News at the time that, "the post is not in relation to Sex and the City property." It turns out she was just promoting her shoe line, SJP Collection and its newest line.
Parker also posted a photo to her Instagram promoting her Cosmopolitan cover. In this photo, she looks fierce as she poses in anoter cleavage-baring black dress.
"Because one feels certain things might not have been possible without so many of you. I share this image of a really fun day with all the following wonderful, talented, smart and inspiring people to shoot a cover for @cosmopolitan," she captioned the photo, and then went on to tag all the people involved. "Here is one of the few images. On the stands next week. And in your mailbox soon. With great appreciation to the fantastic team at @cosmopolitan and their readers for allowing me this opportunity. X, SJ."
