’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast: Christian Grey Role Won't Go to Charlie Hunnam; Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill Still Have a Chance to Play Kinky Billionaire

There have been so many rumors surrounding the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey." Fan-favorites Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder, Alexis Bledel, Emilia Clarke and Lucy Hale have remained as top contenders to play the lead characters.

Other names are constantly being thrown into the mix. Since casting news was announced fans have seen actresses and actors like Kristen Stewart and Ryan Gosling pop up as contenders. The latest name to join the list of potential Christian Greys is "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam.

Twitch was the first to break the news that the actor was being considered as a strong possibility but now a report by Variety is saying that the latest rumor isn't true. According to the magazine, sources close to the actor as well as industry insiders told them that no official casting decisions have been made on the movie.

"Fifty Shades" fans everywhere probably just let out a very frustrated groan. Since a decision hasn't been made yet that means "Team 50" and producers are probably nowhere near close to making an announcement. To look on the bright side, this also means that Bomer and Cavill are still in the running.

The sources did confirm that Hunnam IS on the list of possible Christian Greys but the casting process is still going on. They also report that it could take awhile before a decision is officially made. Producers are supposedly on a "global search" for the kinky billionaire and have looked in the United States, Australia and England and are prepared to take their time to find the perfect actor.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" was given a release date of August 2014 and it has been reported that filming is scheduled to begin in the fall. According to Variety, shooting won't take too long so they still have time to search for actors.

In other casting rumors actress Dakota Johnson is now the favorite to play Anastasia Steele. According to The Wrap, "The Social Network" actress has been considered as a "serious contender" to play the college student.
