It's safe to say that Father's Day is a touchy subject for the Hudson family - especially considering the family drama that went on this past Father's Day.
Last month, Oliver Hudson, the 38-year-old brother of actress Kate Hudson, took to Instagram on Father's Day and posted a spiteful message directed towards his biological father, Bill Hudson.
"Happy abandonment day," Oliver captioned an old photo of himself, his sister, and their estranged father.
Actor Kurt Russell - who Kate and Oliver consider their surrogate father since he began dating their mother Goldie Hawn in the 1980s - opened up to E! News about the relationship between Kate, Oliver and their father following the Father's Day drama.
"I understood Oliver's sense of humor and since then, there's been some nice back and forth between Bill and Oliver and that's nice to see," Kurt told E! News. "You want people to enjoy life as much as they can. We live in a world that if you say something or do something, it can be latched onto for 24 hours or 48 hours."
After Oliver's post, Bill quickly retaliated during an interview with the Daily Mail, saying that he no longer spoke to his children and he no longer recognized them as his own.
"I say to them now, 'I set you free,'" Bill told the Daily Mail. "I had five birth children [including three from another relationship], but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own."
He continued, "I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver's Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth."
