Danity Kane is back and ready to "Rage" with their new single.
That's right, DK's Dawn Richard, Aubrey O'Day, Shannon Bex and Aundrea Fimbres are making a comeback more than five years after their sophomore album release, "Welcome to the Dollhouse."
The girls made their first appearance since their very public split in 2009. It wasn't more of split as it was a public firing by Diddy. Along with the help of MTV, Diddy scoured the nation for five pop divas who together could make a powerhouse girl group.
Unlike Diddy's "Making the Band" failures such as Da Band or Day 26, Danity Kane had a strong following and hit singles. The girls sold many records, but it wasn't enough to hide their discontent with each other and how the group was being managed. Diddy decided to release the girls out of their contracts with Bad Boy record label.
On the season finale, which turned out to be the series finale, Diddy fired O'Day along with D. Woods, the fifth member of Danity Kane who decided not to return to the group.
In a red carpet interview during Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards, Richard told Billboard.com D.Woods has committed herself to other projects. When asked why the group decided to get back together now, Fimbres had a simple response.
"I think we really missed doing music together," Fimbres told Billboard.
And the ladies of DK are excited to reveal what they have been working on.
"[There's] an album's worth of new music. We're working with the amazing Stereotypes, who as you know they've done 'Damage,'" Richard told Billboard. "We have a new record called, 'Rage.' it's a better sound for us. It's a live sound. Danity Kane with live guitar, live drums [and] more of a rock vibe. People will be pleasantly surprised at how we're coming."
"We're focused on Danity Kane. When we get into the studio it's just organic for us. Second to that, it's the stage," O'Day added.
The girls did not give an official release date for their new single, "Rage." However, the world will be curious as to what Diddy has to say about the reunion.
