Jennifer Lawrence and director David O. Russell knocked it out of the park in their first two films, "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle," and hope to do it again with "Joy," which premiered its first official trailer on Wednesday.
Lawrence plays Joy who becomes the founder and matriarch of a powerful family business dynasty. Her character is inspired by the real inventor entrepreneur, Joy Mangano, best known for her inventions of the self-wringing Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers as well as her appearances on the Home Shopping Network.
"Joy" reunites Lawrence with her frequent co-star Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, who also starred in their other two Russell films. The film also stars Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Isabella Rosellini and Elisabeth Rohm.
The trailer features many of the big moments in Joy's life and a glimpse into what inspired her idea for the magic mop. The only dialogue is Joy's grandmother imagining the life she will and Joy introducing herself after pumping a couple shotgun rounds.
"Joy" will premiere in theaters on Dec. 25. Watch the full trailer below.
