Cody Walker, the younger brother of the late actor Paul Walker, has been cast in his first major film role.
The 27-year-old made his film debut in "Furious 7" when he and his other brother Caleb served as stand-ins for their brother Paul, who passed away before filming was completed because the brothers look so much alike, according to People. Now, Cody has landed a role in the new World War II movie "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage."
The handsome young actor will be starring alongside Nicolas Cage, Tom Sizemore, Thomas Janes, Matt Lanter and Brian Presley, according to Variety. The film is scheduled to be released during Memorial Day weekend 2016.
Cody will be playing a crewman on the USS Indianapolis, a ship Cage captains in the South Pacific during 1945. A Japanese submarine torpedos the ship, but the crew's classified mission – delivering parts for the first atomic bombs – ensures that no one is aware it's gone missing in dangerous waters until four days later.
After debuting in "Furious 7," his co-stars supported Cody if he decided to continue acting in the future.
"Wow! Cody, we need you baby," Tyrese Gibson told Entertainment Tonight when asked about Cody pursuing acting. "If you hang around the barbershop long enough, at some point you're gonna get a haircut."
"I think that's awesome," Jordana Brewster added. "If it helped spark a dream, that's awesome!"
Cody shared a photo to his Facebook from the set of the movie alongside his co-stars. "On set of my new 'USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage,'" he wrote.
