The "Full House" spinoff has set sail as the cast sat down for their first table read of the Netflix series, "Fuller House." And while most of the original cast members had announced their return in previous weeks, Scott Weinger, who played DJ's boyfriend Steve, managed to keep his role reprisal a secret until Thursday.
"This is not a drill, people. This is happening!" Weinger captioned a Twitter photo of his name card and copy of the "Fuller House" script.
His fellow co-stars Candace Cameron-Bure, Andrea Barber, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, Dave Coulier and Bob Saget all shared a photo from the first day on social media. Each actor also received a specialized Starbucks reusable cup with their character's names on it.
A message from John Stamos was noticeably absent among all the cheer. The 51-year-old actor checked into a rehab center for substance abuse earlier this month, but Cameron-Bure told Entertainment Tonight that his recent setback won't interrupt production on their Netflix show.
"Everything's great with the show," she said. "[Stamos] will be there."
Stamos really spearheaded the return of the popular sitcom. He will serve as an executive producer on the project and recur as his "Full House" character Uncle Jesse.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were the only original cast members that chose not to reprise their roles for the spinoff.
"Fuller House" will premiere in 2016 on Netflix.
