On season six, episode three of MTV's "Teen Mom 2," Chelsea Houska's custody battle with Adam Lind got heated, Jenelle Evans and Nathan Griffith's relationship was strained after returning from their engagement trip, Leah Calvert considered her ex-husband Corey Simm's custody arrangement and Kailyn Lowry reached her breaking point with husband, Javi Marroquin.
Evans and Griffith's St. Thomas trip was meant to celebrate their engagement but it ended with arguments that followed the couple back home to Myrtle Beach. Griffith was angry after he felt Evans disrespected him by venting about their problems on the phone to her friend. Griffith refused to accompany Evans to an appointment with her lawyer to discuss the legal battle she's facing with her mother Barbara, who currently has full custody of Evans' son Jace.
"This is for my son," Evans pleaded with Griffith, "I want you there for support."
"Not my son, not my problem," he coldly responded.
Houska couldn't hide the look of shock and disappointment on her face when her daughter Aubree returned home from what should have been a supervised visit with her father. Lind's criminal history is the reason Houska denied his request for 50/50 custody. She's confident the courts will rule in her favor, but was speechless when she realized Lind discussed the issue with their five-year-old.
"My dad promised me I would go with him to his house," little Aubree said. "He promised me. You can never ever break a promise."
Calvert's ex-husband Simms, and the father of their twin girls Ali and Aleeah, asked to change their custody arrangement so that he could spend more time with his daughters during the week. Calvert was hesitant at first, but a scene shows the mom of three struggling to get the kids fed, bathed and in bed before midnight on a school night, then up, fed and dressed for school the next morning. Calvert's mommy-related stress affected her relationship with her current husband, Jeremy, and the couple had an explosive scream-fest on the way to Aleeah's cheerleading competition.
"Can you shut up? You don't know what it's like," Calvert yelled from the passenger seat. "Shut up!"
Lowry and Marroquin visited their therapist together earlier in the episode, but the couple still managed to get into a fight afterwards. The argument wasn't aired, but Lowry was filmed talking on the phone with a friend after Marroquin packed up his things and left for a hotel for the night. Lowry didn't seem affected by her husband's absence, but her son Isaac did.
"How am I gonna say good night to Javi?" he asked as she tucked him into bed. Lowry called Marroquin, but he let the call go to voicemail and her son left him a goodnight message. After Isaac hung up, he started crying.
"But I want to give him a hug and kiss," he whined tearfully.
