In last week’s episode of “The Newsroom” MacKenzie (Emily Mortimer), Charlie (Sam Waterston) and Will (Jeff Daniels) all tried to resign—and failed miserably. Leona (Jane Fonda) wasn’t two receptive to their attempt to save the integrity of the network.
As we head into Episode 8, things look to get worse for ACN as they try to both regain the viewers trust, deal with the Jerry Dantana (Hamish Linklater) and recover from the Genoa aftermath.
In the sneak peek which can be seen below, it seems Mac and Charlie’s efforts to get fired have not ended. Charlie figures since Leona won’t take his resignation he has to go through her son Reese (Chris Messing). Mac goes even lower down the food chain and attempts to get Will to fire her.
In addition to trying to get fired, Mac and the rest of News Night are covering the election. Although we can hope they run the coverage mistake-free—we know something’s probably going to go wrong.
In other “Newsroom” news, Taylor (Constance Zimmer) is now a part of News Night. This is going to be interesting for two reason:
No. 1—It will be fun to see Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) tell her what to do. After weeks and weeks of him taking orders from her, he may finally get some payback.
No. 2—It appears Maggie (Alison Pill) and Taylor are going to be friends. In the sneak peak below, Maggie tells Taylor that she “hates Jim too.” After attempting to deny it, Taylor offers to tell Maggie something before she tells Jim in the hopes that it will make the senior producer angry. Unfortunately the clip ends before we find out what.
“The Newsroom” airs Sundays, 10/9c on HBO.
