NBA 2K14: An Explanation of the Living Rosters Would Be Cool

As the release date for the current-gen version of “NBA 2K14” grows closer gamers will get to see a growing number of gameplay videos online.

Those videos will show new features such as the heightened defensive abilities, the smoother player movement, blocked dunks and even the new dribbling technology.

Gamers will also get to see the usual videos such as My Player careers and video game portrayals by a YouTube users favorite NBA player.

However, it would be nice to see a video on some of the off-the-court features. For example, one of the most important features to come to “NBA 2K14” is the Dynamic Living Rosters.

Here’s a description of the feature as written on the “NBA 2K” Facebook page:

Dynamic Living Rosters® powered by Stats, Inc. - Player attributes and tendencies automatically update daily to reflect true life hot and cold streaks. Now, each game played in the NBA can have an effect on your game.

The Living Rosters feature serves as the one of the ways in which “NBA 2K” brings authenticity to its games. We expect the features will change thing such as LeBron’s three point rating and Melo’s ability to score in the paint as the season progresses.

However, it would nice to get a video explaining how quickly and how efficiently the player tendencies are updated. How does Melo’s off night from three affect prevent me from knocking down seven straight threes in “NBA 2K?” How does O.J. Mayo’s complete obliteration of the zone defense in last night’s game allow be to get to basket with him at every opportunity today?

Understandably this would not be the easiest thing to pull off since there is no season going on. But perhaps the developers could put together a video using stats from last year, or even with Summer League players, and show how those stats affect a player’s abilities on offense and defense.

A tutorial on Dynamic Living Rosters would probably be appreciated by gamers because it displays a commitment to authenticity—and authenticity is something every gamer wants.
