Marvel fans won't have to wait long to see a crossover between the Netflix shows "Daredevil" and "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," as Rosario Dawson is set to clock in as her night nurse character, Claire Temple, in the newest show starring Krysten Ritter.
"I think I'm allowed to say: Rosario Dawson will be dropping in," "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg told ET Online. "Smaller characters that populated that world will be popping in."
Dawson signed a deal in May that will also see her return to "Daredevil" for its second season in 2016 as well as appearances in any future Marvel-Netflix shows.
"Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones" will premiere later this year and gives the MCU one of its first female-led projects as well as one of its darkest. Rosenberg described the series as a psychological thriller and that will be no more on display than in the complex interaction between Ritter's title character and the villainous Killgrave, played by David Tennant.
As Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb explained at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday:
"There will be times when you're uncomfortably okay with what it is that Killgrave is doing, and maybe you shouldn't be. What Melissa does so elegantly is suddenly remind you, 'Oh, no. He's really a horrible person.' And so that's really the fun of what's going on. And to watch - Jessica and Krysten - to go through the trials of what it is that he's putting her through, and then finding out the many layered reasons as to where those things are happening, that's really the part of the show that makes it so intriguing, so compelling."
Despite leading the charge on Marvel's female characters, Rosenberg has stressed that "gender is not the first character aspect that defines her." The show will explore what makes the character complex and interesting, female or not.
"It's about the character, it's about her emotional arc," Rosenberg told ET Online. "And she's not a ninja. She never studies martial arts. She's a brawler. You piss her off and boom! You're down!"
