A dad was arrested after he allegedly tried to run over several teens who were bullying his daughter.
Nathan Velez and Trey Telfair caught the incident on camera after they heard a commotion at a nearby school in Rockford, Ill., according to Canada Journal. Velez said that a 13-year-old girl had gotten into a fight with another girl.
"We came over to see what was going on," said Telfair. "We heard there was a fight and the next thing we know, [the 13-year-old's] dad showed up."
Roy Williams, 56, first used a cane and "threatened bodily harm" upon two girls. Later, when they started to run, he allegedly chased them in an SUV, police reported, according to the Mirror.
Footage captured by Velez and Telfair show Williams driving over the sidewalk and grass around the school, and a group of teens running away in terror.
"He was coming at us and he was revving his engine to speed up when he was getting close to people," said Telfair. "And when he got close to me, I just jumped out of the way."
When police arrived, they arrested Williams and charged him with 12 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle and reckless driving. Interestingly enough, it was Williams who called the police before the incident began to unfold, according to the Examiner.
No one was hurt during the incident.
Williams remains in custody with his bail set at $200,000.
"He certainly should have not taken matters into his own hands," Assistant Deputy Chief Doug Pann told NBC's Illinois affiliate WREX. "We would have investigated that initial incident and tried to resolve it without there being any further violence."
