Rod Stewart has announced that "The Faces" will reunite 40 years after their separation on Sept. 5 to perform at a charity concert, Prostate Cancer U.K. Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones will come together for the gig, which will take place at the Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst, Surrey, according to Pitchfork Media.
The last time the band reunited was in 2009, minus Stewart, at the Royal Albert Hall in London. When they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, Stewart had planned a reunion with his band mates. But, he was forced to miss the performance due to illness. Ian McLagan passed away last December, whereas Ronnie Lane died in 1997.
"This year is the 40th anniversary since The Faces parted ways so it's about time we got together for a jam! Being in The Faces back in the day was a whirlwind of madness but my God, it was beyond brilliant. We are pleased to be able to support Prostate Cancer UK," said Stewart, according to Rock Cellar Magazine.
"This is the third Rock 'n' Horsepower we've put on for Prostate Cancer UK and it's shaping up to be the biggest yet," added Jones, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago. "The years of The Faces were some of the best of my life and I'm so proud to have been a part of the band. I'm unbelievably excited to have the opportunity to get up on stage with Rod and Ronnie again. Ronnie Lane and Ian McLagan will be dearly missed but we'll raise a glass to them."
"Getting back on stage with the lads playing 'Stay With Me' and other favourites will be a blast and will make this a very special night," said Wood. "Being in The Faces was a mad and brilliant time for all of us and although we don't have Ronnie and Mac with us anymore this is our chance to remember them and say 'Had Me a Real Good Time'."
The boys of The Faces have also announced a special vinyl box set containing four albums and individual singles titled, "You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything," which will be released on Aug. 8, Uncut reported.
