Toronto police have identified the two victims of Tuesday morning's fatal shootings that took place at the OVO Fest after-party. Duvel Hibbert, 23, from Brampton, and Ariela Navarro-Fenoy, 26, from Toronto, were identified today, reported the Globe and Mail.
The shootings took place at 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Muzik nightclub amid the hundreds of partygoers attending the event, which was hosted by Toronto rapper Drake.
Hibbert left little information about his personal life behind - a spokesperson for the Peel Regional Police said that a man by the same name was wanted back in March of 2013 for violating parole, although they would not specify whether it was the shooting victim.
Family and friends of Hibbert started a GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses on Wednesday morning. The page has a goal of raising $15,000, with $300 raised so far.
Navaro-Fenoy was described by friends as "always smiling" and spent time working at both the Footlocker and Sephora stores located at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, reported CTV News.
Navaro-Fenroy's friends and family also started a GoFundMe page for her funeral costs, which has raised $16,000 as of Wednesday evening.
Three additional people were injured in the shooting, but none of the wounds were fatal and police released a statement on Tuesday saying that one victim was already released from the hospital.
The shooting marks the worst incident of Toronto gun violence this year and one eyewitness said that approximately 10 gunshots rang out into the club with no commotion or warning beforehand, reported the Toronto Star.
"This was a brazen, large-scale ongoing firearm incident," said Toronto Police deputy chief Peter Sloly. "Our officers and members of the public were directly in the line of fire. We were very lucky that this was not a larger body count, quite frankly."
Police are currently searching for two persons of interests and are asking for help from the public in releasing any photos or videos from Muzik nightclub on the night of the shooting.
